What is the Lifestick? Up

The Lifestick is a life saving plastic device with a photoluminescent (glow in the dark) arrow that is slid under the door to immediately identify to Fire Departments and Emergency personnel that victims are trapped or in need of assistance.

How much does the Lifestick cost? Up

The Lifestick is free to building owners. We create revenue through sponsors who are also concerned about the safety of our communities. We provide the life saving Lifestick for free. All we ask is that the building owner commits to using and installing the Lifestick.

What do Fire Departments think? Up

Fire Departments across North America have reacted excitedly about Lifestick. They are in favor of the Lifestick for a number of reasons. The Lifestick not only saves lives but also increases fire safety through education to the general public. The Lifestick can also reduces rescue time. The Lifestick helps rescue crews increase the efficiency of their primary and secondary searches. All of these factors make the job of the Fire Departments safer.

What do present users think of the Lifestick? Up

A survey of tenants who participated in a product study claimed they felt safer and encountered less anxiety and mental stress in a fire alarm or fire drill situation. Additionally, tenants became better educated about fire safety because of the Lifestick program.

How do we explain the Lifestick to new users? Up

The Lifestick comes with a Fire Safety instruction sheet that clearly shows how to use the Lifestick and what to do in the event of a fire or emergency. This is more information that could save lives.

What is the Size of the Lifestick? Up

24" long x 2 1/4" wide x 1/8" thick 60cm long x 5.2cm wide x 0.3cm thick

What is the round notch for? Up

The unique design of the Lifestick has a small screw hole near the top to hang from while it is waiting to save your life. The larger notch is for the Rescue crew to hang on the outside of your door once they have secured your safety. This also will notify other rescue crew members that this room has been secured, saving valuable time to help your neighbor.

Can the Lifestick be used for fire drills? Up

Absolutely! We have had retirement homes use the Lifestick in fire drill evacuation programs. We recommend a fire drill once a month for retirement homes. Once the occupants have left their suite they place the Lifestick on the outside doorknob to indicate they have left for safety. No more confusion and much more prepared.

Can individual occupants order the Lifestick? Up

The Lifestick is designed to be used by and entire building. Just give your landlord/owner our contact information and ask them to inquire with us about implementing our lifesaving program for free.

What type of buildings can use the Lifestick? Up

The Lifestick was designed for use in any high rise building, apartment complex, condominium, office tower, hotel, resort, hospital, college/university residences, nursing homes and disabled persons residences. However, the Signal can be used in any emergency situation to alert police, ambulance, security, management or neighbors of a resident in need of assistance.

What is the maximum number of Lifesticks we can order? Up

Order as many Lifesticks as you have units. We suggest having 2% extra on hand to cover unknown losses.

Where is the Lifestick placed? Up

The Lifestick is typically mounted inside an apartment, hotel room or office, beside the entrance door for easy access by means of a wall mounted screw. The bottom of the Lifestick should be no more than 16 inches or 40 cm above the floor.

Does the Lifestick work on all doors? Up

The Lifestick works with most doors, even ones with weather strips on the bottom. The only time we have found a problem is when there is a threshold (raised floor) in the hallway.

What if the Lifestick is stolen? Up

Of the thousands of Lifesticks in use, we have had less than 2% stolen or misplaced as of yet. This is why we suggest having 2% extra on hand.

What makes the Lifestick glow? Up

The light source is a phosphate enhanced plastic arrow which requires no batteries or maintenance.

How long will the Lifestick stay visible? Up

The Lifestick will remain visible in the dark for several hours under normal conditions. However with a 20 second exposure to artificial light, the intensity is multiplied exponentially, making the Lifestick much more visible in the first 20-30 minutes of an emergency. The reflective HELP sign also increases visibility.

How long does the Lifestick last? Up

The Lifestick can last for several years, however we will replace the old one with a new one after a 2 – 3 year period.
